Preparing for your wedding is one of the most exciting and stressful periods of your life. Some women breeze through it all with barely a zit but for most, stress could make your skin look tired and aged. Worse, it could make you break out. So here are tips to make sure that your skin will look healthy and radiant on the big day.
Have a proper diet
A good diet is the first step towards having clear healthy skin because skin impurities can result from digestive problems. Your skin needs micronutrients and vitamins from natural, whole foods like tomato, beets, broccoli, quinoa, brown rice, meats, fish and nuts to be healthy. You should also up your intake of fruits rich in vitamin C for their antioxidant properties. Eating healthy foods is not enough to have glowing skin. You also need to avoid processed foods that are full of harmful ingredients that are not only bad for the skin but for your overall health as well.
Protect yourself from the sun
Overexposure to the sun can cause skin aging and even skin cancer so limit your sun exposure to the time between 7 AM and 9 AM when you can get your free dose of vitamin D but after that, avoid going out if possible. Otherwise, bring an umbrella and wear clothes that cover most of your skin. Also, don’t forget to wear sunscreen with SPF over 45.
Exfoliate
Exfoliation is an essential skin care regimen that should be done at least once a week. This is one of the best ways to have glowing skin because when you exfoliate you remove dead skin cells and unclog pores that could develop into acne. Exfoliation also helps the skin absorb serums and moisturizers that you apply to improve skin texture.
Cleanse, tone, moisturize
Cleanse your face but make sure you don’t overdo it to prevent dryness. Cleaning twice a day is adequate as doing so gives the skin a chance to replenish the natural oils necessary to keep it supple and healthy. After cleansing the skin, the next step is to tone it. Toners work to restore the pH balance of the skin and good ones contain skin-repairing substances like ceramides, glycerin, fatty acids, and antioxidants to make the skin smooth, fresh, and younger-looking.
The last step is to moisturize, which ensures that the skin maintains its elasticity. Moisturizing is especially important for those with dry skin but even if you have oily skin, you still need to use a moisturizer. Look for one that is specifically formulated for oily skin.
Exercise
Exercise increases blood flow to the cells, which neutralizes the effects of oxidative stress and free radicals. Exercise also helps rid the body of toxins, which is the best way to cleanse the skin from within. This is why you skin takes on a healthy glow after just a few minutes of strenuous exercise. However, you don’t have to have a full body workout to achieve results. Spending at least 30 minutes at the gym, a short walk, or taking the stairs are enough. Make sure, though, that you add some form of physical activity to your daily routine to see continuous improvement.
Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep is one of the secrets to having clear and blooming skin. When you get enough rest, you reduce stress that causes excessive oil production in the body. Apart from making your skin healthy, adequate sleep also helps you think clearly so you can make wise decisions when it comes to food and other lifestyle choices.
Drink plenty of water
Water is highly effective in cleansing the body and eliminating wastes. Because 15 percent of the skin is made up of water, upping your intake means your skin will become hydrated and will reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Try drinking at least two liters of water per day for a week and see noticeable results.
Remove makeup before going to bed
Sometimes, all you want to do is collapse in your bed after coming home from work or a party but if you take the time to remove your makeup and cleanse your face, you will be rewarded with supple, glowing skin. This is because makeup often contains harsh chemicals that can clog the pores and attract more dirt to the skin. Makeup that’s left on the skin also promotes the growth of yeast, leading to infections. It is important to choose products that contain glo minerals, because these have lots of positive effects for your complexion.
Clear, glowing skin is a sign of good health so strive to take care of your overall well-being so you won’t just look great on your wedding day but everyday after that.
